Raj Kumar Sangwan is a distinguished former Indian boxer and one of the nation’s most celebrated sporting icons, renowned for his exceptional achievements in the ring and his contributions to the growth of boxing in India. A two-time Asian Gold Medalist (1991 and 1994), he reached a career-high world ranking of No. 4 in 1995, establishing himself as one of the top boxers on the global stage. In recognition of his outstanding performances and dedication to the sport, he was honored with two of India’s highest sporting accolades—the Arjun Award and the Bhim Award. After retiring from competitive boxing, Raj Kumar Sangwan continued to shape the future of the sport by founding and leading the Indian Boxing & Sports Academy near Gurgaon, an elite training center committed to nurturing talent from the grassroots level to the international stage. Under his guidance, the academy has produced over 30 international-level boxers, reflecting his excellence not only as an athlete but also as a mentor and visionary coach. In addition to his coaching leadership, he serves as the General Secretary of the All India Professional Boxing Federation and is a member of the Chief Selection Committee for the Boxing Federation of India, playing a key role in shaping policies, guiding athlete selection, and elevating the sport nationwide.
