Pritam Siwach is a legendary figure in Indian women’s hockey, having captained the Indian Women’s Hockey Team and received multiple prestigious awards, including the Dronacharya Award (2021), Arjuna Award (1998), and Bhim Award (1995). Her illustrious international playing career spanned from 1991 to 2008, during which she represented India in three Asian Games, World Cups, Asia Cups, and numerous major international tournaments. She won a Gold Medal at the 2002 Commonwealth Games, a Silver Medal at the 1998 Asian Games—where she was also the Top Scorer—and a Bronze Medal at the 2002 Champions Challenge Trophy. Transitioning to coaching, she served as Coach of the Indian Women’s National Team from 2010 to 2012 and as Chief Coach of the Indian Railways Women’s Team from 2014 to 2022, leading the team to consecutive National Championship Golds. A certified FIH Level-2 Hockey Coach, she is currently on deputation as a Hockey Coach at the Sports Authority of India (SAI). In 2002, she founded the Pritam Siwach Hockey Academy in Sonipat, where she trains over 150 women athletes daily, with more than 15 players representing India internationally, including Olympians and Commonwealth/Asian Games participants. With over two decades of experience as both player and coach, Pritam Siwach remains the longest-serving and most influential figure in Indian Women’s Hockey.
