Horace Michael Vassell, A globally respected coach and technical expert, he currently serves as Head Coach and Assistant Technical Director at Excelsior High School, Jamaica, where he has played a pivotal role in leading the school to multiple Corporate Area Championships and numerous national podium finishes. His mentorship has propelled athletes to win at prestigious international events such as the Penn Relays and the Carifta Games, with several setting national records in discus and shot put.His coaching excellence extends beyond national borders, having served as Technical Director at TENVIC Sports Centre of Excellence in India, where he oversaw athletics development and operations. An advocate for youth empowerment, he has successfully mentored over 30 student-athletes to secure scholarships through his tenure at Excelsior High School.
He has proudly represented Jamaica as a coach at elite global meets including the World U20 Championships, Pan American Games, World Indoors, and CAC Games. Founder of Throwers R Us, he promotes throwing disciplines through clinics and international partnerships, notably with NELCO India. Holding elite certifications like World Athletics Level 4 and NCCP Level 3, he also coached Jamaica’s most successful youth teams at the 2021 NACAC and 2022 World U20 Championships, cementing his reputation as a transformative force in athletics coaching.
