Monalisa Barua Mehta

Monalisa Barua Mehta, recipient of the Arjuna Award in 1987, is one of India’s most celebrated international table tennis players from Assam, a National Champion in 1985 and two-time National Games Champion, who represented India in major international events including the World Championships, Asian Games, and Commonwealth Championships, made history as the first Indian woman to become National Champion in Sub-Junior, Junior, and Senior categories, captained both Assam and the Indian National Team from 1978 to 1991, contributed as coach of the Indian Junior and PSPB Teams, served as Joint Honorary Secretary of the Table Tennis Federation of India, and currently serves as Vice President of the Assam Table Tennis Association and Director of ELMS Sports Foundation.
