Amir Singh is one of India’s most celebrated volleyball players, known for his outstanding contributions both nationally and internationally. A recipient of the prestigious Arjuna Award (2001) and Bhim Award (2000), Amir has had a stellar career that spans over a decade at the highest level of the sport. He captained the Indian National Volleyball Team during key periods from 1999 to 2001 and again from 2003 to 2004, leading the country in numerous international tournaments including the Asian Games, SAF Games, and Rashid International Tournaments in Dubai, where he was twice named Best Player. With over 175 international matches and more than 200 professional league matches under his belt, Amir has represented India in major events held across Iran, Vietnam, Pakistan, Qatar, Korea, China, and Romania, often bringing home top honours and podium finishes. Domestically, he was a dominant force in Senior Nationals, Federation Cups, and National Games, guiding his teams to multiple golds and top positions. As a professional player, Amir played for leagues in Doha, Qatar, Malaysia, and the Maldives, further solidifying his global experience. He also led HSIIDC teams to victory in several national leagues and championships, maintaining their winning streak in Haryana State Championships from 2001 to 2007. Known for his leadership, skill, and sportsmanship, Amir Singh remains an iconic figure in Indian volleyball, inspiring generations of young athletes.
