Padma Shri Jyotirmoyee Sikdar

Padma Shri Olympian Jyotirmoyee Sikdar, fondly known as “Sonar Meye,” is a celebrated athlete, parliamentarian, and philanthropist. A double gold medallist at both the Asian Games and Asian Track & Field Championship, and a triple gold medallist at the World Railway Championship, she has also been a 10-time National Champion in athletics and represented India at the World Championships. Honoured with the Padma Shri, Arjuna Award, and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna by four Presidents and Prime Ministers, she remains the only woman from West Bengal to achieve this distinction. Beyond sports, she has served as an MP in the Lok Sabha, continues her service as OSD with Indian Railways, and contributes to athletics as part of AFI’s Executive and Selection Committees, while also dedicating herself to social work and philanthropy.
