Molly Chacko

Molly Chacko (born 15 May 1969) is a celebrated Indian middle-distance runner from Kerala, renowned for her remarkable achievements in athletics. She currently holds the National record in the 3000 metres with a time of 9:06.42, set during the Hiroshima Asian Games on 10 October 1994. In addition to her success in the 3000 metres, Molly was also a former National record holder in the 1500 metres, setting the record in 1994 with a time of 4:12.01, a record that was later surpassed by Sunita Rani in 1999. Throughout her career, Molly Chacko has earned several prestigious accolades, including a Gold Medal at the Malaysian Open Athletic Meet in 1989 and a Gold Medal at the SAF Games, further cementing her status as one of India’s top athletes. In recognition of her contributions to the sport, she received the Jimmy George Award from the Kerala Government in 1994 and the G.V. Raja Award from the Kerala Government in 1992. Her achievements have made her a trailblazer in Indian middle-distance running, inspiring future generations of athletes.
